“Half the world does not know the joys of wearing cotton underwear,” says famous American economist Phil Gramm, and I can’t say I disagree about the thrilling feeling of a soft pair of granny panties. Cotton is the bomb: it’s affordable, versatile and one of the few fabrics you can put in the washer. This Saturday November 19th on Lincoln Road—between Lenox and Alton—the ‘fabric of our lives’ is getting its very own fashion show. Not just an ordinary fashion show, a full day, 24-hour runway show. The show is free to the public and will feature a musical mix of hot local acts like DJs Irie, Ross One and Juan Mieja. What’s more incredible is that a full 1,440 looks are scheduled to strut down the runway, boiling down to one cotton look for each minute of the 24-hour show. Every hour features a different theme, whether it’s Urban Chic, Haute Hipster or Effortless Bohemian.
In accompaniment with the event, Cotton Inc. held an online style search starting in October, inviting people from all over the country to submit photos of them decked out in their coolest cotton ensembles. After public voting, 24 “Style Icons” were selected to participate in the runway show, during which they’ll receive $2,200 in free clothes and a five-star VIP SoBe treatment.
If you don’t happen to be one of these lucky style icons, you can still head down to Lincoln Rd. and experience the first-ever 24-hour runway show…and if that isn’t something every fashionista dreams of witnessing, I don’t know what else is. But if you’re still not convinced, then you’re insane—just kidding, kind of. There’s even more to look forward to. Are you a fan of the ever so chic Giuliana Rancic? Well, she’ll be there, along with E! News and MTV. Yeah, we live in one of the greatest cities EVER. If for some ridiculous reason you still can’t make it down to Miami Beach this weekend, throw on some cotton pajamas, grab some cotton candy, and get ready to jam to the live-streaming event, starting at 12:00 PM EST Novermber 19th on MTV.com.
