This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony was held virtually due to the pandemic. Despite the impossibility of hosting a live gala, nominees nonetheless impressed audiences with striking awards season fashion. Here are the hottest looks toted by celebrities who dressed up (and down) and met and defied red carpet standards.
Sandra Oh donned a Kore Limited satin bomber with the message “Black Lives Are Precious” lettered in Korean. She tied her ensemble together with a matching purple face mask, flare pants by L’Agence and vanilla Louboutin pumps. Oh kept it casual for a stay-at-home show but nevertheless launched conversation through a statement-making designer outfit.
Yara Shahidi’s tumbling braids were a true showstopper. Her dark strands, fastened in knots and accompanied by thick plumes of feathers, contrasted her custom embellished Prada gown.
Eugene Levy toted a black and navy Dior suit, while Daniel Levy boasted heather grey pleats and a coordinating blazer. The “Schitt’s Creek” stars revamped what would have been plain old suits with clashing hues and an edgy blazer/skort duet.
Cynthia Erivo delivered the pop of color we were all waiting for. She complemented a green and purple marbled Versace minidress with silver and gold jewelry and fresh-faced dewy glam.
Zendaya rocked the screen in a strappy Armani Privé dress adorned with polka dots and stones, and the “Euphoria” actress pulled off the blend of patterns seamlessly. After winning gold and breaking records as the youngest ever Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, she slipped into a Christopher John Rodgers dress. Her square neckline and structured purple skirt injected a splash of eccentricity into the Emmys’ 2020 edition.
