Distraction Magazine caught up with local band Teepee, back in October. The band had just recently completed a two week tour of the east coast and was back home for a gig along with opening act Jelly (featuring Rachel Goodrich).
It’s fairly easy to say they were welcomed back to Miami with open arms. The band, fronted by songwriter Erix S. Laurent, has been significantly recognized by local music media. With Laurent being the creative force behind the band, he’s been the recipient of honors such as being named “Best Solo Musician” by the Miami New Times in 2010 and one of the best local musicians by CBS Miami.
Along with the momentum of that recognition, Laurent has been able to make his own way to prominence in the Miami music scene. As we shot this installment of our ‘ Up Close Live Sessions’, we got a glimpse at just how he’s been able to accomplish this: through his ferociously captivating stage presence and the pounding rhythms generated from an equally talented backing band.
