Welcoming hair types from 1 to 4c* and beyond, the Yellow Rose Society’s Hair Care Fair was a roaring success. From barbers to a product swap to vendors, the Hair Care Fair was an event that all could attend and learn a thing or two about their own hair.
Junior Atara Muhammad states, “I had a great time! I got my eyebrows done, and I even won a lip gloss! I can’t wait for them to have it again next year.”
Philisha Mesidor, a senior and curator of the event, says, “I think it went really well! Diversity comes in many layers, hair being one of them. I’m glad that people could come and learn about such a fascinating topic.”
The speaker for the event was Quadeera Teart. Teart was invited for her knowledge on natural hair and her experience as someone who went natural.** She inspired listeners to embrace who they are when it comes to their hair but also further than that. She graced the audience with a song empowering the women in the audience to be the queens that they are.
The Hair Care Fair inspired all attendees to be who they are and to realize the between that lies within each one of us. No matter your hair type, color or style, there is something to be appreciated about the way it grows from your head and represents the person underneath it.
*Hair types range from 1-straight to 4c-kinky.
**To go natural means to cut off or rid yourself of your processed hair rather it be with relaxers, keratin-treatments, hair dye, etc., and grow your hair in its natural state.
